The short answer
“Coaching” does not identify a single trademark class. Business consultancy may concern Class 35 and education or training Class 41. Technical advice may be classified differently depending on its subject, for example in Class 42. What customers buy matters more than the professional title displayed on your website.
Separate advisory outcomes from learning objectives
Business consultancy may focus on organisation or management support. Training focuses on transferring knowledge or skills. An offering can contain both. The Nice Classification distinguishes relevant business services from education rather than treating every personally supported service as part of one general coaching category.
Describe what customers receive from each package: business analysis, recommendations, a seminar or a structured learning programme. Delivering a session by video does not change its substantive content. The number of appointments likewise says little about whether the main service purchased is advice or teaching.

The specialist subject can change the classification
Not all advice is business consultancy. Technical or software-related professional services may, for example, concern Class 42. The word coaching should not group entirely different specialist services together without further explanation. The subject of the advice needs to be apparent from the specification you propose.
Separate management consultancy, technical project work and training if they are genuinely offered independently. A brief project introduction is not necessarily a separate educational product. Conversely, a regularly sold seminar should not disappear behind a blanket consultancy label. Use the actual offers and contractual deliverables as your starting point.

Prepare the personal brand and service structure together
Decide whether customers should recognise your personal name, an institute name or a programme title. These signs are not automatically the same trademark. The service list should fit the identity selected and make clear which offerings are sold under each name used in the business.
Choose precise terms and consider realistically planned extensions before registration. A class number does not protect every service within it, and a registered specification cannot simply be expanded. Trademark registration also does not certify professional competence. Name protection, accurate service descriptions and professional requirements remain separate matters to address.
What you can do now
- Describe each package’s outcome and learning objective.
- Separate specialist advice, project work and training.
- Assign personal, institute and programme names deliberately.
Frequently asked questions
Does all coaching belong in Class 41?
No. Education and training may belong there, while actual business consultancy may concern Class 35. The substance of the service matters rather than the word coaching alone.

Is “consultancy services” enough for my whole business?
Such a general term often leaves the specialist subject unclear. Describe what you advise on and what services you actually perform. Suitable wording requires consideration of the specific offering.
